Welcome to Bear Mug Coffee!

Handcrafted Coffee, Roasted with Care in Jamestown, NC

Welcome to the spot where fine art meets fine coffee. We don’t just roast beans; we curate an experience. At Bear Mug, every small-batch roast is a study in precision—crafted for those who value the intersection of intentional design and a bold morning cup. We’ve traded the art classroom for the roastery, applying decades of creative discipline to every batch we roast.

What is Bear Mug Coffee?

At Bear Mug Coffee, we blend passion and precision to create small-batch roasts that deliver the perfect cup. Every bean is roasted on-site at our Jamestown, NC facility using our vintage Turkish 5kg Hasgaranti propane roaster. We’ve traded automation for a hands-on, manual process. This allows us to adjust the flame in real-time—essential for highlighting the orange brightness of a Guatemala or the delicate honey sweetness of our Tanzania Peaberry. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or a casual sipper, our carefully curated varieties are crafted to hug your day.

Bear Mug Coffee Lineup

Here’s what’s roasting:Guatemala Huehutenango
Roast: Medium
Flavor Notes: Rich Chocolate, Smooth Caramel, and a Crisp Orange Brightness.
Perfect For: The Automatic Drip or Aeropress. This bean is a workhorse. It performs beautifully in a high-end home brewer but truly sings in an Aeropress where you can control the pressure to highlight that orange citrus snap. Serve it in a heavy ceramic mug to retain the heat.
Tanzania Southern Highlands Peaberry
Roast: Medium
Flavor Notes: Bright Citric Acidity, Black Tea, and Wild Honey.
Perfect For: The Chemex or Hario V60. Because these single "pea" beans are so dense, they benefit from a paper filter and a slow pour. The clean filtration of a Chemex allows those delicate tea-like notes to shine through without being muddied. Best served "black" to experience the full flavor evolution as it cools.
Peru Chanchamayo Organic Decaf
Roast: Medium
Flavor Notes: Caramelized Sugar, Molasses, and Roasted Walnut With Much Less Caffeine.
Perfect For: French Press or Moka Pot. These beans thrive with a longer steep or higher pressure, which pulls out that heavy molasses body and walnut finish. It’s the ideal choice for an after-dinner cup by the wood stove.
Custom Grind Service
We believe fresh is best, so all orders are presented as whole beans by default. However, if you don't have a grinder at home, we can professionally prep your bags using our Grindmaster commercial burr grinder for an additional $1.00 per bag.
Simply let us know your preferred setting (1–10) or your brew method:Settings 1–3 (Coarse): Perfect for French Press or Cold Brew.Settings 4–7 (Medium): The "sweet spot" for Automatic Drip, Chemex, or Aeropress.Settings 8–10 (Fine): Precision-ground for Espresso or Moka Pots.
